Black Diamond Grill
Coach Jerry Glanville's Blues Jam

Every Wednesday Night at 8:30 you can expect the best blues musicians in Atlanta to show up for Coach Glanville's Blues Jam.  Hosted by Jerry and house musician Spencer Durham every night is an excursion into the blues.

Mark Evans (AKA "Tweak") who ran the highly successful Blues Jam at The North End runs sound and provides his expertise at making our performers sound great.

If you are a professional musician and you would like to participate in one of our upcoming jams please call 706-344-9920 and talk to Spencer Durham who is band leader and stage manager for the Blues Jam. We welcome touring musicians who want to stop in on their night off and jam with us.

BLUES JAM VIDEO OF THE WEEK

We video a portion of each week's blues jam to post on this website and also on YouTube.  You can see all our videos at:

Each week we select a video from the Blues Jam that we feature as our "Video of The Week".

This week, it is a video of our house band and special guests finishing the night with "Knockin' On Heaven's Door".   This song is Coach Glanville's all time favorite and we routinely close the night with this song.   This week the band consisted of:
Spencer Durham:  Vocals
Emily White: Vocals
Alec Roeser:  Keys & Vocals
Marty Manous: Lead Guitar
Gage Gilmore: Bass
Cody King: Drums

Special thanks to Mike Estes, from Life Goes On Productions for taking the time to shoot and edit this video.  You can see more of Mike's work, including more videos from our Blues Jam on YouTube:

Blues Jam Guidelines

Here are the details on how we run our Blues Jam each week:

1) UPON ARRIVAL AT THE BLACK DIAMOND, PLEASE CHECK IN AT THE SOUND BOARD. YOU WILL BE ASKED TO COMPLETE A SHORT QUESTIONNAIRE TO HELP US GROUP YOU WITH OTHER MUSICIANS.

2) ALL PERFORMERS WILL BE ASSIGNED TO PLAY BY THE PERSON YOU SIGNED IN WITH AT THE SOUND-BOARD. BE PATIENT! THIS IS A FLUID PROCESS!

3)ONCE YOU ARE GROUPED, YOU WILL BE TOLD HOW MANY SONGS YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO PLAY. NORMALLY THIS WILL BE TWO OR THREE SONGS. PLEASE DO NOT EXCEED YOUR NUMBER OF SONGS WITHOUT CONSENT FROM US.

4) WHENEVER FEASIBLE, PLEASE GET TOGETHER WITH THE PEOPLE YOU WILL BE PLAYING WITH PRIOR TO GOING ON STAGE AND DETERMINE WHAT SONG(S) YOU ARE GOING TO PLAY AND IN WHAT KEY THEY WILL BE IN. DO YOUR BEST TO GO ON STAGE PREPARED.

5) WHEN IT IS YOUR TURN TO PLAY, BE TUNED UP AND READY TO GO. TO KEEP THE CROWD, IT IS CRUCIAL THAT WE KEEP THE TIME BETWEEN SONGS TO A MINIMUM.

6) ALTHOUGH WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO GET EVERYONE UP ON STAGE AT SOME POINT THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL BE GROUPED TO PLAY.

7) NO ONE SHALL PARTICIPATE ON STAGE WITHOUT SIGNING UP AND BEING PLACED IN A GROUP. THIS KEEPS PEOPLE FROM JUST GETTING ON STAGE WITHOUT US KNOWING ABOUT IT, AND KEEPS THE QUALITY OF SOUND/MUSICIANSHIP TO THE BEST IT CAN BE.

8) HAVE FUN, PLAY WELL, AND SUPPORT THE BLUES!

9) TELL YOUR FRIENDS TO COME OUT NEXT WEEK!
